Ok gang i just wanted to get everyones opinion on troops that are put in our war castles. We have a great core of guys that are giving dragons when we can and the such. After watching some replays from wars lost i noticed that some times the drags are dominant but a lot of time they are shot down rather easily by high lvl archers and wizards. Are we better offsaving elixer and placing high lvl archers and wizards? I know ive ran into a heap of high lvl archers and been really hurt bad. Im not sure whats better and if the latter is better then we could save an awful lot in elixer and donate better troops including dragond for offense. Whatcha think?  |

As you all know, I really like dragons. With that said they are expensive to donate, so we can try a new tactic. I think more people can donate archers and wizards as well. However we will need more people to donate as archers only fill 1/4 to 1/5 of the castle per donation. Its worth a try.

High level archers and wizards do seem to be better for defense. Problem seems to be, not as many people have the higher levels. I prefer to get the dragon for my attacks!

Bolt, it has been my experience over the course of last few wars, opponents are using better tactics in drawing out the clan reinforcements. The dragons are as vulnerable as any other troop when immediately drawn into the open and hit with strong archers or wizards. I moved my castle into center to try and keep that from happening but that was only for the last war and one attack, can't really say if it helped.
Anyway, I agree to a point that it may be better to put those dragons into play on offense rather than defense, but with a weaker opponent, defensively they work.
So now that I have stated the obvious, possibly allow players to ask for dragons in defense rather than just placing them there?

Bolt, Ciaran, Vindalf, and Banshee1304, this is mostly for you guys but all input is good. The loss we had, I noticed something about thier clan. They had 45 people and 26 were co-leaders. Just an observation. Not saying we should do that but we really have some here who deserve to be upper management. Heather, Ian, Dad, x4rli, just to name a few. We cant cover all the ground, and we all came together so.................those are my thoughts. Let me know how you feel, as I do understand all cheifs makes a different problem.

Wolf, I do not know what the benefit of having a lot of co-leaders would be. I doubt anyone feels slighted because they are not in such a position. Everyone can't be in charge at the same time and a chain of command is a good thing for any organizational structure. Someone has to be in charge and everyone should respect that.
For defense, I am guessing only 5-7 of us have dragons and are willing to donate them due to an extremely high cost and large amount of time involved in making them. I would bet that many more have level 4+ archers and wizards that they would be willing to part with making it easier on everyone. Just my thoughts, I think you guys are doing a great job and it sure has made it a lot more fun for me.

Wolf i agree that there are others that could be or deserve to be upper management but like shawn said thats not the answer. I think heather and especially vindalf could deservingly be very much be leaders also. However too many chiefs can be a problem also which is why this forum is so important in my eyes. I am so glad more are taking part causr i want this to be the peoples clan. Seems so far that there is different views so maybe at first clansmen should request what they prefer. Plz keep talking!!!

Just a thought guys and you have answered it. I think next war move ahead with wizards, and archers....valkyres seem to be awesome as well. We need to let the dust settle a litte, as this is all new. Also weird week Bolt/vacation, Banshee/business, and Ciaran/very busy. Thats my 2 cents. Go Irish war machine...................

This maybe the quality engineer coming out in me but I propose an experiment. For the next 3 wars we divide the war castle donations into 1/3 dragons 1/3 archers 1/3 wizards after three wars we can determine which one is best defense.

I agree it is but we will need a wide distribution across at least three wars to get enough points of data to calculate the best defense

I like Valkyries for clan castle troops, I think wizards are often best, but they need to be high level - I think level 5 or above for maximum impact.
If people are getting their troops drawn out from clan castle easily they also need to address clan castle placement, some of the lower players are leaving clan castle at edge of base where it's simple to draw out troops.
On balance I always prefer to get dragon over ground troops at the moment just because in the past when people have given ground troops, the quality has been sadly variable - but you know where you stand with a dragon.
If I could rely on a good mixed bag of Valks and Wizards topped up with archers, i'd be very happy with that too.

I don't think the answer is making everyone a leader like Shawn said. I agree also level 5 or higher wizards and archers are pretty deadly when placed in a well protected clan castle. I love the dragon on offense. Perhaps it may be better to save the dragon for when players request. It may make the clan stronger in the long run if players can concentrate more on upgrades then making dragons.

I agree with Vin on castle placement, that needs to be addressed. If they draw us out then it will cost them, as they will have to be in range of other defences.
